pretix - Event Technology Platform Review
Configurable ticketing software with multilingual shops, payment-provider choice and hosted or self-hosted editions.
pretix is a ticketing platform offering online shops and on-site tools for event organizers. Its official overview describes use across conferences, museums, culture and festivals; that breadth should be evaluated against your own event requirements, not interpreted as proof of fit for every venue. The shop feature catalogue describes product categories, variations and add-ons, interactive seating plans and multilingual storefronts. It explicitly lists German, Dutch and English among shop interface languages. For a local organizer selling to international visitors, test every part of the buyer journey, including your custom content and transactional emails.
The payment features page is particularly important for procurement: pretix says organizers connect a payment service provider themselves or monitor direct bank transfers, and lists integrations including Stripe and Mollie. It also describes configurable invoice generation and exports. This model can provide payment-provider choice, but it moves provider onboarding, processor charges and settlement reconciliation onto the organizer's checklist. An integration's presence does not establish that a particular payment method is enabled for your merchant account.
pretix's shop supports different ticket variations and add-on packages according to its own documentation. Those capabilities make it worth a demonstration for an event with a main admission and capacity-constrained extras, but configuration and inventory behavior should be tested using your real rules. The feature page notes that some functionality varies by edition or plugin. Ask what your desired checkout, access-control and reporting workflows require in the hosted edition compared with self-hosting; self-hosting also calls for someone to operate the installation.
Commercially, the hosted pricing page explains pretix's ticket charging and distinguishes its fees from those of a payment provider. Public amounts can change. Request a current written estimate with paid tickets, free allocations, add-ons, refunds, processor costs and any implementation services. Do not mistake the displayed platform fee for total transaction cost.
For a Germany-specific procurement script, see our Germany ticketing buyer guide. The official German fiscal documentation describes tax-rule configuration, not legal advice. Have your finance team validate documents and accounting exports before launch.
